Can speedy but unheralded rookie Darren Collison really replace injured superstar Chris Paul? What happens if he leads the New Orleans Hornets to a surprise playoff birth or just finds the key that unlocks Emeka Okafor’s unique but under-appreciated talents? Might the cap strapped Hornets broker a blockbuster CP3 trade this summer? Could Collison, the least likely candidate of this year’s loaded rookie point guard class, be setting himself up a late season ROY run? These are just some of the questions Raz and Dax toss around on this second installment of the 3 From Deep podcast’s mid-season rookie report.

Very nice. Thanks for passing those stats along Evan. Watched the Boston game last night. Collison had a bunch of turnovers early, but down the stretch the kid was absolutely on fire. It raises questions in my mind about who is doing the talent evaluation. If Collison is able to get to the lane and also create scoring opportunities for others on a consistent basis how is he not regarded as an elite level rookie point guard. Again, I think we all get a little enamored with certain players and forget that the NBA game is a very different style of play than college.
